Dee Glon has opened a store specializing in what she calls "a little bit of this, a little of that."

"We've been in Riverton three years and love it," Glon said. "We're not big-town people."

Eight years ago in Sheridan, Glon had a shop called Little Blessings that specialized in Christian-themed gifts.

The new shop in Riverton is located on South Third Street East, and the sign in the window asserts its name, Dee's Avon and More.

Glon and her husband recently worked at The Landing Lounge both in cleaning and at the bar. Now, she rents the space directly behind the lounge.

Glon opened the door to Dee's on March 6 with the goal being to start depleting the stock from the old shop in Sheridan.

The shelves in the store, which she got from the local Neat Repeat shop, are stocked with Christian-related figurines and gifts, craft supplies including ribbon and lace, wedding decorations, party supplies and beauty products.

"Once all this is gone, it's gone," she said.

Glon takes her wares to craft shows and plans to have a booth at the March 31 Wind River Bridal Expo.

"I'm doing lots of gift baskets for bridesmaids," she said. "My mind's just racing."

However, Glon has a couple other items that are the true heart of the shop: blankets and makeup.

Right now her pride and joy are the blankets she sews in the back of the store.

Glon makes fleece blankets, baby blankets and blanket books.

"They're a pain in a rear," she said of the fabric children's books.

Glon said those were good for both children and parents, as once it's dirty it could be put into the washing machine.

"I started sewing last year," she said, noting difficulty getting into sewing classes. "The only stitch I know is the straight stitch and the zigzag."

Most of her blankets are twin size and range in themes from horses to National Football League teams and solid colors.

She will also take special orders. Currently, she is making a queen-sized Denver Broncos blanket on special order.

Her store also features a variety of beauty products, including lotions, body sprays and lip care items.

Beauty products are what she ultimately wants to focus on.

"I want to do a regular, walk-in Avon store," Glon said.

Right now, she is an official representative with Avon and can make orders for individuals. At Dee's she has catalogs and order information available.

But once she sells off the inventory from the old shop, Glon wants to focus on Avon and blankets.

Her hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday. She can be reached at 240-1410.
