SHOSHONI -- It was a soggy homecoming for Shoshoni on Friday at Harold Bailey Field. The Wranglers evened their record at 2-2 with a 26-0 shutout of non-conference opponent Pine Bluffs. The shutout was the second in as many weeks for the Wrangler defense.

Senior quarterback Tyler Clemetson tallied three rushing touchdowns and snagged a pair of interceptions while playing defensive back.

Pine Bluffs took the opening kickoff and promptly fumbled the ball at its own 3-yard line seconds into the game. Clemetson tallied his first score on a quarterback sneak with freshman Jason Thoren adding the point after kick.

Both teams bogged down a bit in the cold, slippery conditions, with penalties and missed blocking assignments plaguing the Wranglers. Shoshoni had a pair of first and goal situations that ended with the Wranglers punting the ball away after losing more than 30 yards on sacks and penalties in the opening half.

Pine Bluffs had the tendency to convert on the fourth down and rarely picked up the first.

The Wranglers took advantage of two of those fourth down failures when the Hornets turned the ball over at their own 44-yard line. A 28-yard pass from Clemetson to freshman Anthony Cousineau was key in the drive and Clemetson converted from there on a 2-yard run for the game's second score.

In the third quarter, the Hornets faced a fourth and 14 on their own 10-yard line and tried to convert again, this time falling short at the 16-yard line. Clemetson tallied his final score on a 16-yard run and the Wranglers led 20-0.

Shoshoni scored late on a 45-yard Jayden Haslam run to cap the game. Haslam ran well outside the entire game.

Defensively, JJ Crichton and Tom Nordwick continued to lead the Wranglers.

Shoshoni will make the short trip to Pavillion on Thursday for a conference contest with Fremont County rival Wind River High School.
