Oct 2, 2013 - By Craig Blumenshine, Staff WriterThe Riverton Lady Wolverines volleyball team will try for a conference win against the Casper Natrona Fillies at 6 p.m. Thursday at Wolverine Gym.
Less than two weeks ago in Casper, RHS beat Natrona in five sets 25-21, 25-15, 22-25, 21-25, 15-12.
Both the Fillies and the Lady Wolverines have identical 3-2 Class 4-A West records coming into Thursday's match.
"We're doing some good stuff, and the girls are working hard in practice. We're going to be at home with our home crowd, and that helps us," RHS head coach Adrian McNamee said.
The Wolverines are coming of a solid performance in last week's Casper
Invitational volleyball tournament, where they won the silver bracket by beating Cheyenne East 2-1 in the final match.
But the Natrona Fillies fared even better in that tournament, finishing second to champion Gillette in the gold bracket after gaining a key semifinal win over rival Casper Kelly Walsh. KW has swept Riverton in their two conference meetings.
"It's a big game, but there is a whole heck of a lot of season left for both of us.
We haven't seen Evanston yet, and Natrona still has to play KW in their second conference match. This is a big game for where we are in the season," McNamee said.
There is no no admission charge for regular-season games in Wolverine Gym.
