A Chrysler PT Cruiser was destroyed in a fire Oct. 5 on Agate Flat Road near Jeffrey City.
Officials said the man driving the vehicle smelled something burning just after 7 p.m. Saturday.
When he saw smoke coming from the dashboard, he decided to stop the car.
"He stopped and opened the door," Jeffrey City Volunteer Fire Department captain Steve Gar-land said.
"As soon as the air hit (the inside of the car), it burst into flames."
The man, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, escaped without injury.
By the time firefighting crews arrived on scene, Garland said the PT Cruiser was engulfed in fire.
"It was a total loss," he said.
Firefighters remained in the area for about an hour, and Garland said the vehicle was towed to an area ranch.
He wasn't sure what started the blaze.
