Feb 6, 2012 - By Randy Tucker Sports WriterPAVILLION -- It was another long night for the visiting Dubois girls Friday in Pavillion. The Rams fell 55-17 to cross-county rival Wind River 55-19 to remain winless on the season.
The familiar five girls comprising the Dubois team played hard but faded in the second and third periods with fatigue as a major factor.
Wind River head coach Justin Walker entered every spot in the scorebook, suiting and playing 15 girls in the contest, with 13 of those players scoring.
Several girls saw their first varsity action of the season.
Dubois junior Rachelle Leseberg kept the Rams in the game early with a trey and a layup, but they still trailed by 11 after one quarter.
Scoring only three points in both the second and third periods left the Rams trailing by 26 at the half and 31 after three.
Leseberg drained another 3-pointer with 4:41 left in the third for the Rams' only points in the period.
Wind River's offense ebbed and flowed with constant substitutions.
Tristan Yellowplume paced the Cougars with 10 points in limited action. Kali Bronco tallied nine points.
Wind River remains in the hunt for a Class 2-A Southwest conference championship with three key games remaining on the schedule.
The Cougars host Kemmerer and Big Piney next weekend then finish the regular season against Wyoming Indian the week after. All three games will be played at home.
