Oct 23, 2013 - StaffFrancis William "Bill" Carlson, of Shoshoni, died Monday, Oct. 21, 2013. He was 79 years old.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 25, at Davis Funeral Home. A viewing will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at Davis Funeral Home. A reception will be held at Hillcrest Baptist following graveside services.
Francis William Carlson was born Jan. 24, 1934, in Scottsbluff, Neb., the son of Oscar H. and Muriel Carlson.
He married LouAnn Rigler on Jan. 18, 1953.
He graduated from Shoshoni High School in 1952. He farmed in Missouri Valley for 54 years before retiring. He also served in the U.S. Army as a mountain climber.
His family said he enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed gardening, canning and playing games, especially bridge. He enjoyed having his family together at Christmas where he made his oyster stew and his special chili. Family and friends would always stop in to share in his delicious cinnamon rolls and great conversation.
He is survived by his sons, Mitch Carlson and his fiancee Kim Jennings, Brad Carlson and his former wife Donna of Riverton and Greg Carlson and his wife Vickie of Shoshoni; daughters Melody Jager and Linda Remer of Casper; brother Robert "Bob" Carlson and his wife Jeanne; sisters Darle Null, Joan Rivers, Janet Frederick and her husband Ken, and Louise Yost and her husband John; brother-in-law Walt Runyan and his wife Debbie of Oklahoma; grandchildren Teresa and Charlie DeWitt and their children Kaylee, Kayden, and Korbin, Billy and Sheri Carlson and their children, Kyle, Hallie and Emma LouAnn, Missy and John Metzler and their children Cambree and Brenna, Bobbi and Heath Overfield and their children Lexi and Hayden, Brook Miller and her children Callie and Cade, Becky and Harley Walters and their daughter Elie, Bridget and Jason Gardner and their children Lainee and Landon, Zack Carlson, Tyler Carlson and his companion Jenni O'Neil, Michelle Rake and her husband Chris and their children Shawn and Jacob, Stephen Jager and his wife Ashley and their daughter Jasmane, Robert Jager and his fiancee Alissa Tucker, Alycia and Clint Asmundson and their son Gunner, and Skylar Remer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, LouAnn Carlson, parents, grandparents, sister Naureen Franklin and son-in-law Steve Jager.
Memorial contributions may be made to an organization of the donor's choice in care of Davis Funeral Home, 2203 W. Main St., Riverton, WY 82501.
