Oct 23, 2013 - From staff reportsThe University of Wyoming plans an informational session for Wyoming high school, community college and UW Outreach School students who are interested in pursuing careers in health care professions.
Riverton is one of the videoconferencing sites.
The session takes place fro 1-2 p.m. this Friday, Oct. 25, at the following videoconferencing sites across the state: Riverton, Casper, Cheyenne, Gillette, Laramie, Powell, Rock Springs, Sheridan and Torrington.
Students who are interested in careers in medicine, dentistry, podiatry, physical therapy, occupational therapy, physician's assistant or optometry are encouraged to attend this information session offered at a distance. Faculty or staff members in community colleges or Outreach School centers, who are interested in learning more about advising pre-professional health students, and the resources UW offers to pre-professional health students, also are welcome to attend.
The session will cover the academic requirements and expectations for admission to various health profession programs at UW. Students will learn about the timelines for preparing and applying to health profession programs; access programs for Wyoming residents (WICHE-PSEP, WY-DENT and WWAMI); and the value of experiences in the areas of research, health care, job shadowing, community service, cross-cultural learning, leadership roles, professional issues, and services and resources offered by the UW Pre-Professional Health Advising office.

- Laramie --Wyo Hall 312.

- Rock Springs --Western Wyoming Community College, Room 1229E.
- Sheridan --Sheridan College, Watt Agriculture Building, Room 111.
- Torrington --Eastern Wyoming College, Tebbet 252.
