Arapaho artist's work on display in November

Nov 1, 2013 - From staff reports

The Wind River Hotel and Casino is showcasing the artwork of local artist Robert Martinez throughout November.

The public is invited to visit the Northern Arapaho Experience Room to see his work. A reception will be at 6 p.m. Friday.

Martinez is a Riverton resident who attended Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, specializing in painting and drawing. He said he was inspired by historical imagery, myths and stories of the West and the Arapaho people.

Northern Arapaho artists also are invited to submit their work for an upcoming art show that will run from December through February in the experience room. Painters, sculptors, beaders, jewelry makers and traditional and non-traditional artists are encouraged to apply.

Applications can be picked up at the front desk and at customer service at the Wind River Casino, 789 Smokeshop and Casino, and Little Wind Casino. Completed applications must be turned in by Nov. 15.
