Apr 3, 2012 - StaffCecelia Velarde, 81, died Wednesday, March 28, at Westward Heights Nursing Home in Lander.
Memorial services were Tuesday, April 3, at The Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Lander with Catholic clergy officiating. Inurnment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Lander at a later date.
A rosary was Monday at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Fort Washakie.
Cecelia Jaramillo was born Aug. 8, 1930, in Fountain, Colo., to Faustine and Eulogia Jarmillo.
She married Louis Velarde in Colorado and moved to Fort Washakie in 1974 where the couple opened El Rancho Mexican Restaurant. Both worked at that business until retirement.
Mrs. Velarde is survived by her daughters, Linda Laskouski and husband James, Susan Alatorre and husband Salvador of Colorado, and Betty VonFeldt of Lander; sons William Velarde and wife Annette of Fort Washakie and Louis "Jim" Velarde and wife Beverly of Lander; sister Martha Tafoya; brother Robert Jarmillo; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Jack Velarde; daughter Rebecco; three sisters and four brothers.
Memorials may be made in her name to Amedisys, 230 N. First St., Lander, WY 82520.
Services were by Wind Dancer Funeral Home of Fort Washakie.
