Riverview Road speed limit to drop Wednesday
Nov 12, 2013 - From staff reports
A reduced project speed limit of 30 mph will be in effect Wednesday morning on the Riverview Road highway improvement project in Riverton.
"The new speed limit will be aggressively enforced by the Fremont County sheriff's deputies and Riverton Police Department officers," said Robert Scheidemantel, Wyoming Department of Transportation resident engineer in Riverton.
Scheidemantel said the contractor plans to work through the winter to replace the canal crossing and rebuild the roadway to the new canal crossing by about April 1.
"And as the canal crossing is replaced with the new box culvert, there will likely be other speed limit reductions on Riverview Road," he said.
Working hours of Bornhoft Construction are 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Traffic will be allowed to pass through the project from 6:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. without being stopped by flaggers. During the remainder of the work day, travelers may see traffic delays of up to 15 minutes.
Scheidemantel said citizens are invited to attend a 1 p.m. work progress meeting every Thursday at the City of Riverton's Public Works Building on Monroe Avenue.
The contractor's scope of work includes grading, draining, milling existing asphalt, placing crushed gravel base, asphalt paving, chip sealing, removal of the existing Riverton Valley Irrigation District canal bridge, curb and gutter, water main replacement, sanitary sewer and electrical improvements, fencing and other work on .94 miles of Riverview Road beginning at milepost 2.16 in the City of Riverton between Rein Road and Augusta Drive.
